I’m Alessia Gardenal (she, they), I am a saxophonist and I work with contemporary music, free improvisation and performance such as movement, voice and theatrical action, I’m beginning also to explore composition.
It’s beautiful and scary the intensity that the performance practice is making me go through, My practice is strongly based on collaboration with other artist, other musicians, performers of every kind, visual and graphic artist.
My artist practice starts from a necessity, I started as a very shy and restricted body and performance evolved with me. It’s a need for personal and social liberation and community building. I don’t yet know everything I want to tell, but art and performance are a journey of discovery, constantly transforming.
Listening to each other with sounds and somatic practices it’s a wonderful way to connect and to share,
so hit me up if you wanna play with me! ;)

Solo free Improvisation with sound, text and movement at Kammermusiksaal HfM Nuernberg
Current projects:Â
Performance duo with Talaj Szöke; we're working on creating relation between sound and performance focusing on transitional states between living and about to die. This through breath-driven instruments, voice, and the performative body embodied in multiple characters, the time shifts in function, the space in perception and listening is collective
Butter-Fly Trio; Warm melodies, touching lyrics and experimenting with different sounds, timbres, and styles are at the heart of our music. As three friends we want to create a world of sound that listeners can immerse themselves in. We want to share our own personal stories and mainly work on our original compositions that deal with topics that deeply move us.
"Solo + "; for my final Master project I'm working on melting contemporary music repertoire for solo saxophone or saxophone and electronics from composers which includes Marco Momi, Sarah Nemsov, Alex Mincek, Gérard Grisey and solo and collective improvisation, reflecting on confusion, connection, death and personal boundaries.
